Saudi Arabia has officially secured its place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a thrilling 1-1 draw against Iraq in the final stage of the Asian qualifiers. The match, held at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, ended with loud celebrations as Saudi fans cheered their team’s qualification.

Iraq took the early lead in the first half with a powerful goal from Ayman Hussein. However, Saudi Arabia responded strongly in the second half when Salem Al-Dawsari scored a crucial equalizer from a penalty kick in the 72nd minute. The draw gave Saudi Arabia the one point they needed to confirm their qualification spot for the upcoming World Cup.

With this result, Saudi Arabia became one of the first Asian teams to qualify for the 2026 tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This marks Saudi Arabia’s seventh appearance in the FIFA World Cup, continuing their strong football tradition in Asia.

Coach Roberto Mancini praised his players for their discipline and fighting spirit. He said the team showed “real character under pressure” and promised fans that Saudi Arabia will aim to perform better than ever in 2026.

Fans across the country celebrated the qualification with fireworks, street parades, and chants of national pride. The Saudi Football Federation also announced plans to organize special preparation camps and international friendlies ahead of the tournament.

With young talents like Firas Al-Buraikan and experienced leaders like Al-Dawsari, Saudi Arabia looks ready to make an impact on the global stage once again.
