South Africa registered a strong win over England in the second ODI at Leeds. England batted first but had a shocking collapse. The entire team was bowled out for just 131 runs in 31.4 overs. None of the batters could settle, and only captain Jos Buttler (38 runs) showed some fight.
The damage was done mainly by the South African bowlers. Keshav Maharaj and Wiaan Mulder completely destroyed England’s batting order. Maharaj took 4 wickets for 29 runs, while Mulder claimed 3 wickets for 17 runs. Their combined effort left England helpless, as they lost wickets at regular intervals and never built a strong partnership.
In reply, South Africa chased down the target easily. Aiden Markram played a solid innings and scored a well-made 57 runs. He was supported by opener Quinton de Kock (32 runs). South Africa reached 132/3 in 28.5 overs, winning the match by 7 wickets.
This victory gave South Africa a 1–0 lead in the three-match series, as the first game was washed out due to rain. England will now have to win the next match to stay alive in the series, while South Africa looks confident with their bowling and batting balance.
