Pratika Rawal to Receive World Champion Medal: Trusted Her Teammate Shafali Even After Injury Exit

Indian women’s cricket team’s young all-rounder Pratika Rawal is set to receive the World Champion medal despite missing the final due to injury. The talented cricketer was ruled out midway through the Women’s U-19 World Championship, but her contribution throughout the tournament played a crucial role in India’s journey to the title.

Pratika suffered a shoulder injury during the semifinal clash against Australia, which forced her to watch the final from the sidelines. However, her fighting spirit and sportsmanship won hearts both inside and outside the dressing room. The Indian team went on to lift the trophy after defeating England in a thrilling finale.

Speaking to the media, Pratika expressed her emotions, saying, “It was tough not to be on the field during the final, but I had full trust in my teammates, especially Shafali. She has always led with confidence and passion, and I knew she would finish the job.”

Team captain Shafali Verma also acknowledged Pratika’s contribution, saying the victory was as much hers as the rest of the team’s. “Pratika gave her best in every match she played. Her energy motivated us even when she wasn’t playing,” Shafali said after the final ceremony.

The ICC confirmed that every player who participated in the tournament and contributed to the team’s campaign would receive the World Champion medal, including those who were injured before the final. This gesture reflects the team-first spirit that defines modern cricket.

Pratika’s all-round performance in earlier matches was remarkable — scoring crucial runs and taking key wickets in the group stages. Her ability to handle pressure in crunch moments proved vital for India’s progress.

The 19-year-old from Gujarat said she is already focusing on recovery and aims to return stronger for the upcoming Women’s T20 Challenger Series. “Injuries are part of the game, but this medal means everything. It reminds me that teamwork always wins,” she added with a smile.

The moment Pratika receives her medal will be a proud one for both her and Indian women’s cricket. Her story is a perfect example of resilience, belief, and the unbreakable bond between teammates.
