Indian shooter Anish Bhanwala made the country proud by winning the silver medal in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event at the World Shooting Championship 2025. The event took place in Doha, Qatar, where top shooters from all over the world competed for glory.
Anish, who is known for his sharp focus and calm performance under pressure, scored 32 points in the final round. However, he narrowly missed the gold medal, which went to France’s Jean Quiquampoix, who scored 34 points. The bronze medal was claimed by China’s Li Yuehong with 29 points.
With this achievement, India’s medal tally in the championship has now reached five — two silver and three bronze. This marks one of India’s best-ever performances in a world shooting event. Meanwhile, China continues to dominate the medal table with four gold medals, followed by France and India.
Anish Bhanwala, aged 22, has been one of India’s most promising shooters in recent years. He previously represented India in the Asian Games and World Cup events, where he consistently showed his potential. Speaking after the event, Anish said, “It feels great to win a medal for my country. I was aiming for gold, but I will take this as motivation to work harder for the next championship.”
The Indian shooting team’s overall performance has been impressive, with strong showings in pistol and rifle events. Coaches credited the shooters for their discipline and mental strength under intense competition.
Sports analysts believe that this performance is a positive sign for India ahead of the 2026 Asian Games and 2028 Olympics, where shooting is expected to be one of the strongest medal prospects for the country.
Anish’s success not only brings pride to India but also inspires young shooters who are preparing for international competitions. His consistency, hard work, and calm attitude continue to set an example for the next generation of athletes.
