IND vs AUS 4th Test Day 2, Live Score: India Struggles at Stumps, Trailing by 310 Runs in Melbourne
Day 2 of the 4th Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground ended with India in a precarious position, still trailing by 310 runs. The Indian team was struggling at 164/5, despite some solid bowling performances. Poor decision-making and some uncharacteristic dismissals have put India on the back foot.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was the standout performer for India, scoring a composed 82 before a mix-up with Virat Kohli led to a run-out. Jaiswal had looked set for a century, but his unfortunate dismissal ended his promising innings. Kohli, who had looked in good touch, also fell for 36, poking at a delivery outside the off-stump.
In an attempt to stabilize the innings, Akash Deep was sent in as a nightwatchman, but he too couldnβt offer much resistance. Before the Tea break, India lost Rohit Sharma cheaply, and KL Rahul was undone by a brilliant delivery from Pat Cummins.
Earlier, Australia piled on a daunting total of 474 runs in their first innings, with Steven Smith leading the charge, scoring a magnificent 140 runs. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne, along with Sam Konstas, contributed valuable half-centuries, helping Australia dominate. Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of Indiaβs bowlers, claiming four wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja contributed with three wickets.
As the teams head into Day 3, India faces a tough challenge, with Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja remaining unbeaten at the end of Day 2. The visitors will need a resilient effort to avoid a follow-on and fight back in the match.
