Defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) will host Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 35th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Tuesday (April 25) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Both teams have played six games this season. The Titans have won four, while Mumbai have been victorious in three games this season. The Titans started their campaign with two wins but came short in the third game against Kolkata Knight Riders because of that monstrous inning from Rinku Singh. They quickly bounced back in the next game but fell short again against Rajasthan Royal
The Titans maintained their winning streak in the previous game against Lucknow Super Giants. It was a very close encounter where the Titans scored a mere 135 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Hardik Pandya scored his first half-century of the season and had an excellent partnership of 68 runs for the second wicket along with Wriddhiman Saha. Saha made 47 runs off 37 deliveries. The Super Giants had a decent start to their chase, reaching 106 runs by the end of the 15th over and cruising away toward victory. They managed just 18 runs in the next four overs and required 12 runs from the last over. They lost four wickets and failed to chase the target by 7 runs.
MI lost their opening two games and bounced back to win the next three in a dominant fashion. In the last game against Punjab Kings, MI won the toss and elected to bowl. The Kings scored 214 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs while batting first. Harpreet Singh and Sam Curran added 92 runs for the fifth wicket. Curran scored 55 runs off 29 deliveries, while Harpreet made 41 off 28. MI lost the first wicket in the second over, but Rohit Sharma and Cameron Green provided the right stability to the team. They added 76 runs for the second wicket before Rohit departed. Green looked in great touch and added another 75 runs for the third wicket along with Suryakumar Yadav. Both Green and Surya scored half-centuries for the team. In the end, they required 16 runs from the last over, but Arshdeep Singh bowled superbly to restrict MI to 201 runs.
