World’s ace javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra was at his supreme best as he clinched the season-opening Doha Diamond League 2023 title with an effort of 88.67m in his first attempt on Friday. The Indian came close to beating his personal best throw of 89.94m, that he set last year in Europe.
Neeraj Chopra started his 2023 season with a bang as he won the season-opening 2023 Doha Diamond League. The men’s javelin star also became the world leader with the throw of 88.67m. This was Chopra’s second win in a Diamond League Meeting. He had become the first Indian to win a Diamond League Meeting in Lausanne last year. Check all his top records here in this story.

With a throw of 88.44m in the Diamond League final in Zurich last year, Neeraj Chopra created history as he became the first Indian ever to win the prestigious title.
Neeraj wrote history again at the World Championships last year when he won the silver in the competition. He became the second Indian and the first male Track and Field athlete to medal at the Worlds. The first Indian to do so was Anju Bobby George, in Long Jump.
