The game was pretty much set up here in both the innings. Marizanne Kapp found Yastika Bhatia’s outside edge and followed it up by castling Nat Sciver-Brunt to peg MI back very early in the game. Jemimah Rodrigues then took a stunning catch in the following over to send Hayley Matthews back to the pavilion as MI made just 19 for the loss of their top order by the end of the powerplay. And with the ball, it was the total opposite as they leaked runs non stop. Meg Lanning smashed Sciver-Brunt for a couple of boundaries in the very first over and Shafali Verma followed it up with three in the following over as DC surpassed MI’s powerplay tally in just two overs. The onslaught continued as both the batters kept the boundaries flowing as DC raced to 50 inside 4 overs. Even though Shafali was then dismissed, DC still managed to fetch 67 runs in the powerplay.
