In Cricket, Australia won the First One-Day International match against India by 10 wickets with 74 balls remaining in Mumbai last night.
India vs Australia Highlights 2nd ODI Match Today: Mitchell Starc made full use of helpful conditions to take 5 for 53 as Australia bundled out India for a meagre 117 in 26 overs in the second ODI on Sunday. Starc’s ninth five-wicket haul in ODIs along with fine display from Sean Abbott (3/23) and Nathan Ellis (2/13) gave Indian batters no chance to settle down with the ball seaming and swinging prodigiously. Virat Kohli (31) and Axar Patel (29 not out) wee the only batters to cross the 20-run mark
Australia cruised in their 256-run chase with centuries from their openers David Warner and Skipper Aaron Finch. Warner scored 128 and Finch 110, helping Australia score 258 without loss in just 37.4 overs.
Earlier, put into bat, India were all out for 255 in 49.1 overs. Shikhar Dhawan top scored for India with 74 runs while K.L. Rahul contributed 47 runs. For Australia, Mitchell Starc claimed three wickets while P.J.Cummins and K.W.Richardson shared two wickets each. David Warner was declared Man of the Match. The second ODI will be played at Rajkot on Friday
Again, all eyes will be on KL Rahul’s bat who struggled to find form during the Border-Gavaskar series. He scored a patient unbeaten 75 in a low-scoring game at Wankhede where India defeated Australia by five wickets.
The fate of the 2nd ODI would also depend on how the weather turns out today at the Vizag where the weather forecast for the second ODI is of scattered thunderstorms at least in the first half.
India vs Australia 2nd ODI: Captains post-match
Steve Smith: Was a quick one. Only 37 overs you don’t see usually. Starc with the new ball put them under pressure. I didn’t know how the wicket was going to play. There was no total in mind. We were just trying to execute our plans. We were on the right side. Just that kind of a day when the nicks went to hand. The way Head and Marsh played at the start. They just kept going and we are able to bounce back after the last game. Nice I held on to it. Fortunate I was able to hang on to it. Hardik is a wonderful player we know.
Rohit Sharma: If you lose a game, it is just disappointing, We didn’t apply ourselves with the bat. Didn’t put enough runs on the board. It wasn’t a 117 wicket. We didn’t apply ourself. We never allowed us to get the runs we wanted. Once we lost shubman in the first over, myself and Virat got 30-35 runs. But then I lost my wicket and we lost a couple of wickets post that. Starc is a quality bowler. He has been doing it for Australia with the new ball. He kept bowling to his strength. Swung the new ball and took the odd ball away. Kept the batters guessing. Marsh has to be one of the top players going around when it comes to power hitting. He backs himself to do that every now and then. Definitely in top 3 and 4 when it comes to power hitting.
