Haryana Steelers defeated Patna Pirates 32-23 on Sunday to win their first-ever Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) championship in Pune thanks to an incredible on-court performance. Mohammadreza Shadloui, the show-stopper, was in full force as the Haryana Steelers easily won the final. Shadloui scored seven points, Vinay contributed six, while Shivam Patare scored nine for the Haryana Steelers. The runners-up received Rs 1.8 crore, and the winners received Rs 3 crore.
With the first few points and the advantage in the opening exchanges, the Haryana Steelers got off to a fast start. The Haryana Steelers continued to dictate terms and dominate the tempo, with Shivam Patare and Shadloui doing the heavy lifting, despite a valiant effort by Devank and Ankit against the Patna Pirates.
Under the leadership of Jaideep and Rahul Sethpal, the Haryana Steelers’ defense proved why it is regarded as one of the finest in the league by making it very tough for the Patna Pirates to score. But as the half went on, Gurdeep and Sudhakar managed to get the Patna Pirates within striking distance of their rivals. Shivam Patare and Vinay placed the Haryana Steelers in the box seat after Devank and Ayan leveled the playing field. The Haryana Steelers had a 15–12 lead at the half.
With a slow start to the second half, Patna Pirates took the lead thanks to Sudhakar. The three-time winners retaliated after the Haryana Steelers did a good job of keeping Devank and Ayan quiet.
